The History of Fort Worth

Walking through the streets of Fort Worth now, you'd never know that what is now inviting and bustling Downtown Fort Worth was once known as Hell's Half Acre - the red light district of the town marked by gambling, booze, prostitution, and general violence. Fort Worth is where the West begins, and it tells the story of both Texas's famous livestock industry and the frontier days of the Old West. Walking through Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, you'll see remnants of the past from the original brick walkways to the wooden corrals. The historic district tells of the collision of ethnicities, protestants and cowboys, and how the city came to be!
